San Antonio Nonprofits Benefit from Allstate Foundation Gifts
December 22, 2011 The Allstate Foundation awarded nearly $100,000 to 14 San Antonio organizations in 2011. The Bexar County Family Justice Center received $79,300 from the Allstate Foundation to provide economic empowerment education and support for area domestic violence victims. Another $13,000 went toward organizations that Allstate agents volunteered with in 2011. The $1,000 grants were given on behalf of the local agents, bringing the total up to $92,300. “The very fabric of Allstate consists of people who care about their local community,” says Phil Lawson, Allstate Field Vice President for the Texas Region. “The Allstate Foundation is a powerful way for agents and employees to get involved with their local nonprofits and partner with them in making their communities stronger and safer places.” The organizations are Samba Vida; Alamo City Storm Soccer Club; San Antonio Independent Living Services; San Antonio Golf Association; Down Syndrome Association of San Antonio; Gujarati Samaj of San Antonio; Leon Springs Business Association; Sistas In Business; Juvenile Outreach and Vocational Educational Network; Action United for Entertainers and Diverse Artist; Centro Cultural Hispano De San Marcos; Hydro Angels Over Texas; and Light Shine Ministries. Statewide, the foundation awarded $530,000 to nearly 150 organizations to fight to end domestic violence, promote teen safe driving and help build vital communities.
