One-Stop Center for Victims Opened
September 9, 2011 By Telegraph Staff Report Services for victims of domestic violence and/or sexual assault will be more accessible through a new project in North Platte, the One Door-One Stop Center. According to Lincoln County Coordinated Response to Domestic Violence Team coordinator Tanya Folk, One Door-One Stop is a project of the LCCRDV, a multi-agency task force that works to stop domestic violence in the area. A variety of agencies will be at one location on the second Friday of every month from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Bethel Church, 2700 West Philip Avenue. The first One Door-One Stop will be on Sept. 9. The team recognizes that victims need services to be more accessible, Folk said in a press release issued this week. "Having all the agencies in one location at one time can help make it easier for people to get the help they need, quickly and comprehensively," Folk said. Anyone may walk into the Center to meet with an advocate who will assess their situation and needs and meet with an agency representative. Victims can receive legal advice, crisis counseling, meet with a law enforcement officer or prosecutor. All services are free and confidential. Free childcare will be available. The Center is funded in part by a Violence Against Women Act grant from the Nebraska Crime Commission. For information, call (308) 534-5879 or (308) 532-0624. Some agencies who will be represented are: Rape and Domestic Abuse Program, Bridge of Hope Child Advocacy Center, Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services, Nebraska Legal Aid, Lincoln County Attorney's Office, Lincoln County Victim Witness Unit, District 11 Probation, law enforcement and Community Domestic Violence Intervention Program. |
