White Plains NY - My Sisters’ Place (MSP) is the recipient of a one-year $50,000 grant awarded to The Women’s Research and Education Fund (WREF) under the Avon Foundation’s Speak Out Against Domestic Violence initiative.

These funds will be used to create the Avon Empowerment Self-Sufficiency Program, at the Family Justice Center, equipping survivors with the skills to achieve independence.

As one of the 32 grant recipients out of 150 submissions throughout the country, WREF has collaborated with the Westchester County Courthouse engaged My Sisters’ Place in the work to provide hope and the chance for economic stability so that survivors are less likely to return to abusers.  In praise of Avon and MSP Camille Failla Murphy, Executive Director of the WREF states, “We are extremely proud that the Avon Foundation for Women shares our mission to help domestic violence survivors and their families in the Westchester community.  These funds have enabled us to contract with My Sisters’ Place to extend their exemplary self-sufficiency program to all domestic violence victims who utilize the Family Justice Center.”  Avon Foundation for Women President, Carol Kurzig, acknowledges the work of MSP to deliver critical services to Domestic Violence survivors and their families. “We are proud to support their efforts to help end the cycle of violence.”  Thanks to this grant, the odds just got better.
