Family Justice Center Hosts Community Reception
January 28, 2012

ROCK SPRINGS -- The Sweetwater County Family Justice Center is hosting a reception open to interested members of the community.

In addition to hearing from county and state leaders from social, legal and law enforcement services, guests will have an opportunity to hear from the founders of the Family Justice Center movement, Casey Gwinn and Gael Strack from the National Family Justice Center Alliance.

Casey Gwinn is the president of the National Family Justice Center Alliance. He has served on the U.S. Attorney General's National Advisory Committee on Violence Against Women and the American Bar Association Commission on Domestic Violence.

Gael Strack is the chief executive officer and co-founder of the National Family Justice Center Alliance, which provides technical assistance to more than 100 existing and pending Family Justice Centers across the world. Casey Gwinn and Gael Strack are returning to Sweetwater County to provide technical assistance and guidance to the Family Justice Center as it moves closer to providing cooperative services to residents of Sweetwater County.

The center is the first of its kind in the state of Wyoming, providing a model for wrap-around services for victims of family and interpersonal violence. Essentially, the center is a one-stop help center for individuals seeking assistance in cases of domestic violence, sexual assault, child sexual assault, child abuse, stalking and elder abuse. The center is a program of the YWCA of Sweetwater County and is funded by the Division of Victim Services at the Wyoming Office of the Attorney General.

The reception is open to all members of the community and will be conducted on Tuesday, Jan. 31, from 5:30-7 p.m. at the Robber's Roost at the Outlaw Inn in Rock Springs. Individuals interested in attending should RSVP no later than Jan. 30.
